WASHINGTON - Vice President JD Vance declared Thursday that stronger-than-expected September jobs numbers demonstrate that “Trump economic policies are actually working,” while defending the administration’s agenda despite continued affordability concerns.

Speaking at a Breitbart News event, Vance celebrated the addition of 119,000 jobs in September, more than double the 50,000 economists had predicted. The jobs report , delayed seven weeks due to the recent government shutdown, showed the unemployment rate rising slightly to 4.4% from 4.3%.

The September jobs report showed job gains concentrated in healthcare and social assistance, which added nearly 47,000 workers in August, while cuts occurred most in professional and business services, the federal government, and manufacturing.
