LANSING — State officials have issued a written warning after a campaign finance complaint was filed against a Lansing City Council candidate who won their election earlier this month.
Deyanira Nevarez Martinez received 72% of votes in the Nov. 4 election to the win city's Ward 2 council seat, which represents part of south Lansing. However, an advertisement for her campaign lacked a required disclosure about who paid for the ad, according to a ruling from the Bureau of Elections, part of the Michigan Secretary of State's office.
