LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville’s Iron Man Triathlon in the past has overcome high heat, swift water, and even algae blooms in the Ohio.

But the man-made obstacle of highway construction was too much.

“We do not have the ability to pull the permits for Iron Man to sell the needed number of registrations for the 70.3 in August,” Greg Fante, Louisville Sports Commission President, said.

I-65 will be closed next summer in both directions from Jefferson to the Watterson.
