Federal immigration agents are poised to launch sweeps in New Orleans and other parts of southeast Louisiana in the coming weeks, the latest sites that President Donald Trump’s administration are targeting for U.S. Border Patrol operations.

Details — including the number of Border Patrol agents being mobilized, where in the New Orleans area they might operate and the timeline of their arrival — have yet to be finalized, sources told The Times-Picayune | The Advocate.

Planning documents reviewed by The Associated Press say federal agents are expected to descend on New Orleans for operation “ Swamp Sweep” as soon as Friday, with 250 border agents that could be part of the mission. The operation would kick off at the beginning of December, according to those documents, the AP reported.
