District 11’s familiar boogeyman isn’t waiting for Easton in the PIAA Class 6A football quarterfinals this week.

St. Joseph’s Prep, which is 10-0 against Lehigh Valley programs in the state tournament, didn’t make the field.

The Red Rovers will clash with an old foe instead. The last two times Easton reached the PIAA bracket (2009-10), it was upended by La Salle College High School. The two programs will meet again in the state quarterfinals 7 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Area School District Stadium.

The Explorers (10-1) halted St. Joseph’s Prep’s streak of three consecutive PIAA championships and nine straight District 12 titles by defeating the Hawks, 24-14, in the Philadelphia Catholic League 6A final.
