A 7-year-old girl is safe after the 2002 Hyundai Elantra she was riding in was stolen with her in the backseat on Wednesday evening.
The girl's father, the vehicle's owner, was ordering food on the corner of Seventh Avenue and Villard Street in Bozeman at the time of the incident, according to an affidavit filed with the Gallatin County Justice Court on Thursday morning.
"We learned a vehicle had been stolen with a seven-year-old female inside," confirmed Bozeman Police Department Detective Thomas Lloyd in the report.
While Lloyd and other officers searched for the girl in the stolen sedan, they received reports she exited the car and was safe near the intersection of Fourth Avenue and College Street, more than a mile away from where she was taken.
