CALGARY – The head of AtkinsRéalis Group Inc.’s Canadian division is expressing optimism that Quebec would be receptive to a new pipeline through the province.

Stéphanie Vaillancourt told a business audience in Calgary that the mentality seems to be changing, noting Premier François Legault has said Quebecers are ready for a pipeline.

In an on-stage discussion, Calgary Chamber of Commerce chief executive Deborah Yedlin pressed Vaillancourt on whether that would still be the case if Legault’s Coalition Avenir Québec party loses next year’s election.

Vaillancourt says the provincial Liberals, who she suspects would win, are an economy-focused party and would understand that means developing Canada’s natural resources.
