Hoggard soccer's pursuit of the program's first NCHSAA state championship title starts Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m.

The Vikings (21-1-2) face Western champion West Forsyth (20-2-2) in Greensboro on the campus of Guilford College for the NCHSAA 8A state championship. The Vikings hope to become just the second New Hanover County soccer team, boys or girls, to bring a state title trophy back to Wilmington (New Hanover soccer is the other, in 2021).

These teams have never played in the MaxPreps era. Although a neutral site, West Forsyth High School, which is located in Clemmons, is about a 35-minute drive from Guilford College. Hoggard is over 3½ hours away.
