After around 12 hours of deliberations, jurors found 47-year-old Asa Peck guilty of second-degree murder and sexual assault of his on- and off-again girlfriend, Chantell Wilkes.

Judge Joseph Findley shared the verdict to a full courtroom in 8th Judicial District Court in Fort Collins at about 1 p.m. Thursday.

The jury deliberated all day on Wednesday and for about four hours on Thursday before finding Peck guilty of a lesser charge, murder without premeditation, a class two felony, as well as, sexual assault by submission, force, threat, or other, a class three felony; and violation of a protection order, a class one misdemeanor. He was facing a first-degree murder after deliberation charge, a class one felony, according to court records.
