WASHINGTON — Maryland lawmakers say a revised plan to restore the Chesapeake Bay is on track for final approval on Dec. 2, even as questions linger about whether the Trump administration will support long-term environmental work.
Sen. Chris Van Hollen said the updated restoration proposal reflects key points the Maryland delegation outlined in a bipartisan letter in September.
“I’m pleased that the final agreement adheres closely to a lot of the recommendations that we included in that letter,” Van Hollen told The Baltimore Sun on Tuesday.
In the bipartisan letter, 22 lawmakers representing states involved in the agreement requested that the final agreement have clear timelines, specifically for its goals to improve water quality and reduce pollution, among other provisions.
