Premier Doug Ford and his government said legislation will be introduced at Queen’s Park to protect the provincial economy by requiring all public-sector organizations to prioritize goods and services made here ahead of other options.
The Buy Ontario Act would apply to provincial ministries and agencies, municipalities, contractors, and subcontractors, the province said.
Stephen Crawford, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement, who made the announcement Thursday morning at an ironworks company in North York, said the government’s intent is to keep procurement dollars within the province.
