A 23-acre luxury compound known as “Mattaccino” has officially become the most expensive home ever sold in one New Jersey town, closing this week for $6 million.

Located at 1980 Campbell Road in Wall Township, the 30,000-square-foot estate was represented by Sal Ventre of REAL Brokerage and sold after drawing national attention for its massive footprint and resort-style amenities.

"We coined it as a 'residential resort,' because that's truly what it is," Ventre said. "From a nightclub to arcades, four to five different bars, a massage spa, saunas, a theater, racquetball court, four-hole golf course — you name it, it has it."

The home was originally built in 1988 and had multiple owners, including an MLB player, Ventre said. But his clients bought the home as a foreclosure in 2017 and did a complete renovation of the entire property.

The gated property stretches across 23.44 acres and includes more than 10 bedrooms and 17 bathrooms, according to the listing. The custom compound features a four-hole golf course, 14-stall horse facility, indoor pool and spa, and an underground nightclub, creating what the listing describes as a residential resort.

The home also includes a gourmet kitchen with high-end appliances, a dining room that seats sixteen, and a primary suite with sweeping views, private quarters, and hidden passages. Outside, the grounds offer a quartz-Ansylbrite pool, tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts, plus a 1,500-square-foot poolside cottage.

Zillow shows that the most expensive home sales prior to this one was a $4.7 million home at 2645 River Road in (which had a Manasquan mailing address but is located in Wall Township, according to Ventre).  The median home price in Wall is $889K, Realtor.com shows.

Ventre said his team first listed the property in 2022 and spent the next three years running major marketing campaigns to reach the right buyer. “We knew the buyer wouldn't be a local person looking to upgrade,” he said.

At one point, several interested parties wanted to convert the property for commercial use, but the town wouldn’t permit it. That meant the team had to continue marketing it as a traditional single-family home — something Ventre acknowledged would be challenging.

The home ultimately sold for $6 million to a buyer from Ghana, who discovered the listing through social media, Ventre said.
