Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the U.S. Secretary of the Army, Daniel Driscoll, in Kyiv on Thursday.

During the meeting Driscoll described the Ukrainian army's fight against Russia's invasion as "remarkable."

"The tragedy of having to defend your right to exist and losing your neighbors and your friends and your colleagues, it's horrific, and it's just something that no nation should face," Driscoll told Zelenskyy.

U.S. officials said Wednesday that Driscoll and several other high-ranking Army officials were in Ukraine to help with peace talks.

In the meeting, Zelenskyy thanked Drsicoll, U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance for their support.

He also asked Driscoll to pass a booklet to Trump with the list of components used in the Russian cruise missiles launched on Ternopil overnight on Wednesday.

Ukraine claims materials can be traced back to the United States, Germany, China and Taiwan, the Netherlands, Japan, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

A Russian drone and missile barrage on the western city of Ternopil killed at least 25 people, including three children, authorities said Wednesday.

The attack hit two nine-story apartment blocks and injured dozens.

Zelenskyy described the document as "really important."
