MESILLA — They're technically on separate teams, but they often come together as one.
Swimmers from Las Cruces, Mayfield, Organ Mountain and Centennial took to the stage at the Las Cruces Public Schools to talk about their upcoming season. The Hawks went first, and one of them went straight into discussing the bond the four teams have.
"We're really just such a close-knit team between all four schools," said Centennial girls' swimmer Jordyn Campion. "Because we all practice together and travel to the meets together, we're very close-knit."
High school swimmers from across LCPS all show up together for 5 a.m. practices at the Las Cruces Natatorium. They'll get each other awake, hone their craft next to one another and make travel plans for future meets together.
