Hark Vineyards opened to the public in late 2019.
Founded by Candice and Aaron Hark in January 2015, the 80-acre estate in Earlysville, a short drive northwest of Charlottesville, features more than 20 acres under vine, including eight varietals.
Per the timeline included on the website, Chardonnay, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc were planted in block A, covering 8 acres, in 2016. Petit Manseng was added to vineyard block A a year later, and preparations began for block B as a site for two white wine varietals.
Construction on an 8,5000-square-foot winery production building began in 2018, and on Oct. 11, 2019, the business opened to the public.
