A host of Manchester legends have taken to social media to express their shock and sadness at Gary 'Mani' Mounfield's death at the age of 63.
The death of the Stone Roses and Primal Scream bassist was announced by his uncle Greg on Facebook on Thursday afternoon.
He wrote: "IT IS WITH THE HEAVIEST OF HEARTS THAT I HAVE TO ANNOUNCE THE SAD PASSING OF MY BROTHER GARY MANI MOUNFIELD. RIP RKID." No details about Mani's death have yet been officially shared.
An outpouring of grief has come from titans of the Manchester music scene. Fellow band member and close friend, Ian Brown , took to X, writing: "REST IN PEACE MANi X."
While Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher posted: "IN TOTAL SHOCK AND ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED ON HEARING THE NEWS ABOUT MANI MY HERO RIP RKID LG."
