MIDDLETON-CROSS PLAINS, Wis. (WKOW) – Leaders in the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District showcased programs designed to prepare students for the workforce on Thursday.

The ProStart program helps high schoolers get ready for careers in the hospitality and food industries.

Senior Sophia Hazlett said the class is preparing her for the future. She plans to attend college for food science and nutrition but hopes to use her passion to help people in need.

"I'm more so trying to get food out to people who need it the most, people who are in food deserts," Hazlett said. "I want to make food that's delicious and nutritious so they don't have to stick with fast food or foods that are draining their pockets."
