Regular Penn Station commuters have shared opinions on how it could be better: higher ceilings, better notifications, an all-around facelift — and improvements are in the works.
Andy Byford, special advisor to the Amtrak board — better known to some New Yorkers as Train Daddy — laid out what he wants to accomplish with what’s now being called the Penn Station Transformation.
“We are determined to give back a station worthy of this great city, this great state, this country,” Byford said at an Association for a Better New York power breakfast Thursday.
While there is no price tag yet, Amtrak is soliciting developer proposals to get shovels in the ground by the end of 2027, leveraging public and private money.
