Ryan Wedding had a problem.

His face was being splashed on TV screens and news websites around the world, including in Toronto.

It was October of last year, and the Canadian ex-Olympic snowboarder had been publicly labelled a criminal drug lord behind a massive and murderous cocaine ring — a man some would later nickname the “Cocaine snowboarder.”

According to authorities, Wedding set about fixing the problem.

On Wednesday, the FBI unveiled its theory that Wedding proceeded to enlist a high-profile Brampton defence lawyer, a network of hit men and a GTA crime blogger to kill the man who threatened to bring him — and his entire operation — down.

That key FBI co-operating witness had worked with Wedding for more than a decade. Within three months, he would be dead .
