A man died after being shot several times in North Philadelphia on Thursday evening, according to a spokesperson with the police department.

Officers were called to the 4600 block of Whitacker Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 20 for reports of a person with a gun, police said.

When the officers got to the scene, they said that they found a man who had been shot several times.

Medics took the man to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead around 6:50 p.m., officials said.

Officials have not yet revealed what led to the shooting or the identity of the victim.

The Philadelphia Police Department's Homicide Detectives are investigating this incident.
