PHOENIX — Clean up and repair efforts are happening inside Desert Sky Mall after a devastating storm on Wednesday night.
The ceiling of a dental office inside the mall collapsed, which caused a main water line to break and cause significant flooding.
The southeast end of the mall, including Mercado de Los Cielos, remained closed on Thursday as the floors dried up.
“I’ve been here 14 years and never seen this," said Beto Soledad, a small business owner inside Mercado de Los Cielos.
Mercado de Los Cielos is a marketplace of about 200 small businesses.
Soledad said he was inside the store when rain and hail slammed the mall located near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road.
Soledad and other business owners were trying to keep the water from filling their stores, but he said it was moving too
