CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KTIV) - The West Lyon Wildcats are champions once again, claiming their seventh state football title.
The Wildcats went up against Regina from Iowa City at the UNI-Dome, claiming the state title 34-27 after the game went into overtime.
The game started around 4 p.m. Thursday, and the Wildcats would take the lead early, scoring the only touchdown in the first quarter, but the Regals would give a strong response in the second. Regina would score 17 points while also blocking the kick for the Wildcats’ only touchdown in the second. Going into the second half, the Regals were leading 17-13.
The third quarter saw little action on the scoreboard, the Regals getting a field goal, making it 20-13 going into the fourth.
