“It feels like walking on eggshells” – this is how the principal of a prominent school in Southwest Delhi described a generational shift among students, who are more sensitive and more exposed.
“You correct a child’s behaviour and you don’t know how they will interpret it,” the principal told The Indian Express .
Principal of The Indian School in Sadiq Nagar, Tania Joshi, maintained that “no one expects” such a thing – a Class 10 student of St Columba’s School dying by suicide, alleging harassment by teachers.
“It is a very impressionable age, and how the children take things matters a lot.”
According to Joshi, this is not an isolated trend. “This is happening across cities. The social media factor has to be taken into account. What is the point of interaction, nobody really knows.”
