Creating chemistry is important to early season success.

The Orcutt Academy boys basketball team can attest to that.

The Spartans created some chemistry this week, grabbing two road wins and beating their opponents by an average of 31 points per game. They defeated San Luis Obispo Classical Academy 69-20 on Nov. 18, followed by their most recent win against Coastal Christian, 55-42 at the Oceano Community Center on Wednesday night.

“We knew we had to start the season out with some wins,” senior guard Nathan Malone said. “We know it’ll get harder, so we need to get comfortable with one another.”

Malone came off a 19-point performance against SLOCA and didn’t let up the next night. He finished with a team-high 21 points and eight rebounds.
