TONGANOXIE, Kan. (KCTV) - Dozens of animals are now safe after rescuers saved them from a Tonganoxie woman who was court-ordered to surrender them months ago.
The Leavenworth County, Kansas, Humane Society announced on Thursday, Nov. 20, that it has taken in 10 dogs from the property of Amanda Fleer, 42.
Fleer was recently ordered to surrender all animals that remained on her property and serve a 10-day jail sentence. On Thursday, Nov. 13, she surrendered 18 flea-infested canines.
The rescue marks the continuation of an operation that began on Nov. 13, when Fleer surrendered 18 dogs covered in fleas. Additional animals were recovered through the week, including birds and reptiles.
