HAVANA, Fla. (WCTV) - Florida and Georgia’s drought conditions are getting worse, according to the newest drought monitor released on Thursday, but a Havana Christmas tree farm prepared for these conditions.

The dry conditions are impacting plants and crops, including Christmas trees. Owner of Turner’s Tree Farms, Gina Turner, said the lack of rain created a lot more work for crews to get ready for the season.

Turner said they’ll have to absorb the cost of increased irrigation.

“We did irrigate a little more this year because of the drought. In past years, we’ve had a good, decent amount of rain, so we haven’t had to irrigate quite as much,” the owner said.
