MAINE, USA — Maine independent candidate for governor Rick Bennett is getting a boost from a new national political party, the Forward Party .
One of the party’s founders, former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, appeared with Bennett on Thursday at the Cumberland Club in Portland to talk about their movement and why the party has endorsed Bennett .
The Forward Party seeks to break what it sees as gridlock and constant conflict between Republicans and Democrats and promote candidates who agree to its pledge to work collaboratively on policy solutions.
