A LABOUR minister has been urged to apologise for spreading “false claims” about Scotland’s NHS.

In a video posted to social media , energy minister Michael Shanks claimed that the Scottish Government is “airbrushing” waiting times figures.

The waiting time figures the Scottish Labour MP referred to in his video are released by Public Health Scotland (PHS).

It comes after the body changed how it reports NHS waiting times last month, including moving from quarterly to monthly publications.

PHS will also now adjust overall waiting time calculations for patients who don’t attend or are unavailable for appointments.

“If you have been waiting months or even years for an appointment and for some reason the first date you’re not able to make, well the clock gets reset,” Shanks claims
