SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Four people have been convicted on felony charges for orchestrating a fraudulent collision targeting a rideshare driver in Southern California.
The California Department of Insurance is urging residents to report suspicious crashes as part of its anti-fraud campaign.
Ledontae Pope and Kalil Davis were arrested on January 24, 2025, for their involvement in the staged collision. Investigators discovered that on November 23, 2024, a vehicle driven by John Murillo intentionally collided with a rideshare vehicle traveling on Interstate 215 in San Bernardino.
Authorities say that the suspects planned to file false injury claims to receive insurance payouts from the rideshare driver's insurance.
