Detroit — Maybe Marco Kasper finally reached the bottom, the absolute basement to what has been a forgettable start to this season.
Thursday’s 5-0 loss to the New York Islanders wasn’t great for any Red Wings player, but it was especially miserable for Kasper, who played a hand in two of the goals against.
Then, in the second period, Kasper was given a 10-minute misconduct for attempting to stir things up in a game that was slipping away for the Wings. Kasper fought the Islanders’ Tony DeAngelo late in the game.
Kasper extended his streak to 10 games without a point. He’s minus-seven during that span, enduring a sophomore slump that few people saw coming.
