Detroit – The Tigers and utility player Matt Vierling agreed to terms Friday on a one-year deal worth $3.255 million.
Vierling, 29, was one of Detroit’s 12 arbitration-eligible players.
Friday was the deadline for the club to tender contracts to those players.
A vital piece of the Tigers’ puzzle in 2024, with his versatility on the field.
Vierling was limited to just 31 games last year. He started the season on the injured list with a rotator cuff strain and ended the season with an oblique strain.
The Tigers also avoided arbitration with right-handed reliever Beau Brieske, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal worth $1,157,500 for 2026. Brieske missed most of the season with a forearm strain but is expected to be ready to compete this spring.
The deadline is 5 p.m. to tender contract
