Wednesday, November 19, the Chaves County Federated Republican Women (CCFRW) held their monthly meeting at the Elks Lodge. Opening with a greeting was CCFRW President Charlotte Gurul, welcoming honored veterans while leading the prayer and pledge, with the New Mexico Youth ChalleNGe leading the presentation of the Colors. Gurule introduced Vice President Rhonda Jasper as well as Mike Espiritu, the guest speaker for the day. Espiritu is president and CEO of Roswell-Chaves County Economic Development Corporation and a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Espiritu served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force and said he believes in the American values of liberty, duty, faith and personal responsibility. He gave tribute to veterans and their families. Also mentioned was that veterans' service was given not for f
