WORKERS at ExxonMobil’s Ethylene Plant in Mossmorran, Fife , on Tuesday received the devastating news that their jobs were at risk, and that the plant would begin the process of closure from February.
For the 179 employed staff and 250 contractors who rely on the site, this announcement created concern and worry about their future. That worry was compounded by a leak – reportedly from the UK Government – in advance of employees being formally informed. Leaking news at the expense of employees’ wellbeing seems particularly crass.
