Approximately 14.8 million people are expected to travel for Thanksgiving in the South Atlantic Region, according to information from AAA.

Of those, 13.6 million will travel by automobile between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1 — a 1.7 % increase from 2024.

Another 948,000 travelers will travel by air, and 286,000 will travel by other means such as bus, train or ship. The South Atlantic region is composed of Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Thanksgiving holiday travel period is defined as the seven-day period from Nov. 25 to Dec. 1, according to AAA.
