The Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers played a wild Stanley Cup Final in 2024, with each team winning three in a row before the Panthers rebounded and clinched the franchise's first title with a 2-1 win in Game 7.

The teams met for the second year in a row in the 2025 Final, with the Panthers repeating, this time in six games.

They meet again Saturday night for the first time since June and both teams enter the game out of a playoff spot, but just barely. That adds to the importance of a game that already had been circled on the calendar.

"I think it's born out of respect," Panthers coach Paul Maurice said. "Especially in the Final, 13 games of the most pressure-filled hockey either team has ever played, there's just a great amount of respect for both teams. So you know you got to be on or you're going to get beat."

Here's where the Panthers and Oilers stand, and how to watch the game:

Where the Florida Panthers stand

They're one point out of a playoff spot. GM Bill Zito managed to hang on to all 12 forwards from the clinching game. Then the injuries hit. Matthew Tkachuk and Tomas Nosek had offseason surgery, captain Aleksander Barkov tore his ACL in training camp and defenseman Dmitry Kulikov had surgery for an upper-body injury. The injuries continued this week with strange ones. Eetu Luostarinen suffered burns in a "barbecuing mishap" and Cole Schwindt broke his arm in a collision with his goalie.

Brad Marchand has been the best Panthers player this season, putting together a just-ended 11-game point streak in which he scored 10 goals and recorded his 1,000th career point. Defenseman Gustav Forsling will be counted on to try to shut down Connor McDavid.

Where the Edmonton Oilers stand

They're also one point out of the playoffs and are 1-3-1 in their last five games. McDavid and Leon Draisaitl continue to drive the team, but the team has switched out some of its depth players. Jack Roslovic has been a great bargain addition. McDavid has moved up to second in league scoring, but the Oilers aren't getting a lot of production from their bottom six. No. 1 goalie Stuart Skinner has an .881 save percentage.
