A town centre hotel has applied for permission to make its popular terrace a permanent fixture.
The King’s Head Hotel in Richmond wants to replace the temporary seating at the front of the building with a concrete structure.
A planning application for the terrace on the town’s Georgian cobbled Market Place has been submitted to North Yorkshire Council.
Supporting documents submitted with the application state: “The proposal has been carefully designed to provide a refined outdoor seating area that will help support the ever-growing customer base of King’s Head, while protecting the special historic character of the cobbles, the listed building, and the wider conservation area.”
According to the plans, a hessian membrane would be placed over the cobbled surface.
