The Government of India utilises the Jeevan Pramaan system to facilitate the creation of a Digital Life Certificate (DLC) through the UMANG app, making it convenient for retirees.

Pensioners can use this digital tool to confirm their "aliveness" without having to visit their pension-disbursing organisation in person. Pensioners must present their life certificate in November of each year in order to continue receiving their pension.

In addition to helping pension disbursing agencies (PDAs) avoid fraud or incorrect payments, a life certificate acts as proof of existence for retirees. The certificate may be submitted online using the government's Jeevan Pramaan website or in person at a bank, post office, or Common Service Centre (CSC).
