The Joseph Center celebrated its 10th year of existence on Monday. The organization, which began as a daytime center for homeless mothers in Grand Junction, has expanded its mission over the past decade.

The nonprofit now offers shelter, financial and family assistance to virtually anyone in need, on everything from transitional housing to rental assistance to car repairs.

“We started with just one gap after we did a feasibility study within the community, then, as time went on, needs began to present themselves,” Joseph Center Founder and Executive Director Mona Highline said. “It just took its own shape.”

The center hasn’t yet held a formal celebration for the milestone. Highline said she and her staff hadn’t found time for such an event, but they are, “working on that.”
