CAVALIER, N.D. – Ahead of a 250th American anniversary celebration, the Pembina County Historical Society is getting ready for its contribution to North Dakota’s festivities.
A $10,000 grant from the ND250 Commission will allow the museum to design and construct an original cider press for the community orchard that sits on its grounds.
“I think the idea of a community gathering space, especially in a rural area, to have access to fresh and local food is a wonderful thing for our community,” Lillian Stegman of the community orchard said.
As work has gotten underway for next year, there is hope that there will be more funding on the way for similar projects for the area.
The orchard has been a community food source, providing a much-needed boost to a food desert in northeast North Dakot
