India’s ODI skipper Shubman Gill is all set to miss the upcoming three-match series against South Africa, according to a report in The Times of India, having suffered a neck injury during the first Test against the same opponent, with the Indian team management now wondering who will be the stand-in skipper.

Gill, who travelled from Guwahati to Mumbai on Friday, has been advised additional rest by Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala but is expected to be fit in time for the five-match T20I series against the same opponents beginning December 9.

A new evaluation will be held next week to assess Gill’s recovery and determine the way forward.
