A new Star Trek film looks like it's finally happening, with an acclaimed duo set to write, direct and produce, as the franchise is seen as a priority at studio Paramount. However, there's a few caveats to make this news a bit bittersweet for fans.
As reported by Variety , the studio has signed up Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley to do the script and helm the project.
These are the two behind the recent Dungeons & Dragons movie and the excellent comedy Game Night. They also contributed to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Horrible Bosses .
Although they've worked with Chris Pine before on the D&D movie, this won't be a fourth film in that rebooted continuity. So no Chris Hemsworth, no Zoë Saldaña, no Zachary Quinto and no Simon Pegg.
