The Sioux Falls Police Department announced Nov. 22 a “very serious” car crash occurred involving four people.
According to Sgt. Travis Olsen, a Nissan SUV was driving westbound at about 2 a.m. on Benson Road, when it “failed to negotiate” the T-intersection at North Minnesota Avenue and “vaulted onto Sioux Falls Regional Airport grounds.”
The vehicle came to rest inside an occupied building west of the intersection.
Olsen said all vehicle occupants sustained “very serious injuries” and were transported to local hospitals but that further information is pending.
No one in the building was hurt.
The department’s Traffic Section is investigating, Olsen said, and speeding is “likely a factor.”
This is a developing story. Check back for more.
