LOS ANGELES, California — Rumer Willis is offering a poignant, deeply personal look at what life has become for her father, Bruce Willis, as he continues to battle a rare form of dementia, E! News reported .

During an Instagram Q&A, the 37-year-old actress answered how her father has been doing.

“People always ask me this question, and I think it’s kind of a hard one to answer, because the truth is that anybody with FDT is not doing great,” Rumer replied as reported by E! News, “but he’s doing OK in terms of somebody who is dealing with frontotemporal dementia.”

Despite the heavy reality of his diagnosis, she emphasized her gratitude: she still gets to hug him and she still sees “a spark,” according to Page Six .
