CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - One person is dead after a shooting early Saturday morning in south Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Police said officers were called to Wallingford Street around 2 a.m. near West Woodlawn Road.

When officers arrived, they found one person who had been shot. That person died on the scene.

WBTV is working to learn what led up to the shooting.
