The shelter-in-place order for Wilmington and San Pedro was lifted early Saturday morning after a fire broke on a cargo ship at the San Pedro port.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said as of Saturday morning, firefighters were unable to access roughly 40 burning containers.

The shelter-in-place order had been issued north of Point Fermin, between South Western Avenue and State Route 103 for both San Pedro and nearby Wilmington. LAFD HazMat teams monitored air quality as suppression efforts continued in the ship's sub-levels, where access remained difficult.
