The Congress party secured the second position in the by-election, pushing the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) to third spot.

Das, who has been leading the Odisha Congress since February 2025, is working to revitalize the party’s presence in the state. The meeting with Gandhi and Venugopal likely focused on strategies to strengthen the party’s grassroots organization and improve its performance in upcoming elections.
