Upcoming changes to the BBC TV licence fee are now being questioned at a senior level of government, it is reported
The Government is reportedly considering blocking the next scheduled increase of the BBC licence fee. A decision regarding the potential change to the licence fee cost must be made by February of the coming year.
Under the existing agreement, the fee is set to rise in line with inflation each year until 2027. The fee was anticipated to increase by September's annual inflation figure, which stood at 3.8 per cent.
However, according to the Daily Telegraph , Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy is deliberating whether to allow the next rise of approximately £7 to go ahead next spring or to halt it.
