KAYAMKULAM: A woman who had come to hand over financial assistance to her bedridden friend collapsed and died, unable to bear the emotional stress. Just hours later, her friend also passed away. Khadijakutty (49), wife of Shajahan from Krishnapuram, Kayamkulam, and an LIC agent, collapsed and died on Friday. Her friend Shyamala Kumari (50), wife of the late Sreekumar from Kandalloor, who had been undergoing long-term treatment for cancer, died soon after.

The incident took place on Friday night at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital. Both women had studied together at MSM College, Kayamkulam, and their batch members had collected money to support Shyamala’s treatment.
