Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that Pakistan is aware it cannot defeat India in a direct confrontation and resorts to proxy warfare instead. He made these remarks following a recent explosion in Delhi, which he described as an attempt by Pakistan to reassert its presence. Fadnavis condemned terrorism supported by Pakistan, emphasizing that India has proactively identified threats and conducted operations against terror outfits that aimed to carry out bombings across the country.
"I am glad that today we have a changed India. India first sensed these things and conducted operations... their intentions were to detonate bombs in every corner of India, and many cities of our country, including Mumbai, were their targets," he said.
The central government has not confirmed Pakistan's involvement in the attack, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah stating that investigations are ongoing. Shah assured that those responsible for the Delhi car blast would be pursued relentlessly.
Fadnavis criticized the previous government for not taking decisive action against terrorism, referencing the tragic Pahalgam attack that resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. He drew parallels between the 9/11 attacks in the United States and the attacks on Mumbai, asserting that these were challenges to India's sovereignty.
He praised Prime Minister Modi for endorsing cross-border military actions against terrorism, highlighting that after the Pahalgam incident, Modi made it clear that terror and dialogue cannot coexist. Fadnavis noted that the Indian Army was given a free hand to act, demonstrating India's strength and capability to the world.
The recent explosion, which occurred near the Lal Quila Metro Station on November 10, resulted in at least 15 fatalities and numerous injuries. Preliminary reports indicate that victims suffered severe injuries, including fractures and head trauma, with the blast causing extensive internal damage. Many victims displayed deep wounds and heavy bleeding, suggesting they were violently thrown by the explosion's force.
