The B.C. Coroners Service is investigating two deaths in Chemainus after police cordoned off the offices of a forestry company on Friday morning.
Police were at Hope Place, an offshoot of Smiley Road in an industrial area just north of Fuller Lake Arena for an investigation.
The entrance to a fenced lot leading to a small one-storey building with the Kaatza Group forestry company logo was blocked off with police tape as officers in white forensic suits examined the property.
Mosaic Forest Management said in a statement that due to an unspecified incident that occurred overnight at an independent contractor’s facility, the company has suspended its operations for the day.
“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted,” it said.
